FFWS (Free Fire World Series) 2021, which was planned to take place later in November, has been postponed owing to safety concerns about COVID-19, which was discovered earlier this month.
Dot Esports received a statement from Garena in which they said that the health and safety of everyone engaged is their top concern. The decision to cancel the event was made after carefully evaluating all of the alternatives available to protect the health of the Free Fire community as a whole.

According to Garena, "The World Series is the biggest and most thrilling esports offline event in the history of Free Fire." As a result of the rising safety issues, providing players and spectators with an entertaining but safe offline esports experience has become more difficult."
In November, the FFWS was expected to be hosted in Mexico, according to reports. Currently, the nation of South America is experiencing the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic, which is being fuelled by the Delta form of the virus. According to the Mexican health ministry, a total of 21,250 new cases were discovered in the nation on August 24.
Because of the epidemic, the FFWS was also postponed last year. Free Fire Continental Series (FFCS) was introduced to take the role of the previous event. The FFCS was played online and divided into three regions: EMEA, the Americas, and Asia. As reported by Dot Esports, Garena has announced that the Globe Series would be replaced with "a variety of Free Fire esports events taking place across the world this year." Garena seems to be interested in hosting smaller events across the globe in the future, although they will not be as large as the FFCS in 2020.
