Notes
In the year 2019, a completely new competitive tournament scene emerged. The previous Hearthstone Championship Tours system, according to the Hearthstone esports staff, was difficult to follow and not particularly accessible to novice players. [1] In order to address this, Hearthstone esports overhauled its tournament format in early 2019, replacing the HCT with the brand new Hearthstone Masters system, which consists of three basic tiers of competitive play:
- (1) Hearthstone Masters Qualifier - these are the entry-level qualifiers for the Hearthstone Masters tournament.
- (2) Hearthstone Masters Tours – live tournaments across the world
- (3) Hearthstone Grandmasters – the highest rank in the game

Finals
Kolento, the clear favorite to win the Championship, was knocked out in a close-set by Kranich in the quarter-finals. Another prominent competitor, StrifeCro, was knocked out by the lesser-known DTwo. Kaor was barely beaten by the fledgling Firebat in the opposite series, while Tarei was knocked out by the famous Tiddler Celestial.
Firebat made up to the final series after barely beating DTwo in the semi-finals, with some notable plays including some insane double-Gadgetzan Auctioneer Miracle Rogue card-drawing action. To join Firebat, Tiddler Celestial defeated Kranich in a clean sweep.
Firebat and Tiddler Celestial kicked off the finals with a druid mirror, which Firebat was able to win. Tiddler Celestial's efforts to counter Firebat's druid deck with priest and Handlock were ultimately fruitless, as Firebat stomped to a 3-0 series win.
