Mumbai Indians have been undoubtedly one of the most successful sides as fast as the IPL is concerned. They are the only team to have won the IPL title 5 times and they look hungry for more as we approach yet another new season. One of the best things about Mumbai Indians is that they have always built a team that had all its bases covered and have been probably one of the best T20 sides in the world if we may say so. They believe in their motto - ‘One Family’ and have always lived by that philosophy both on and off the field.
However, this was the year of mega auctions and everything had to be shuffled. If you ask all IPL teams who wanted to avoid the mega auction, Mumbai Indians would be the first team who will raise their hands up. They have lost some key players in the form of Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Quinton de Kock, Trent Boult, etc just to name a few.

With that being said, Mumbai also has managed to sign Jofra Archer and the world is going crazy ever since. Even though he might be out injured, Jofra Archer will join the Mumbai Indians later this season or probably next season. And then Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer will be bowling in pairs. What a formidable bowling pair that will be. Mumbai also has made some smart picks by signing some very good T20 players. Tim David from Singapore is one of the best hard-hitting talents who has proven his mettle in leagues all across the world. Let us look at their possible playing XI and the whole Mumbai Indians squad.
Let us look at their expected playing XI and their strengths and squads of the Mumbai Indians -
- Rohit Sharma - A name that needs no introduction and a player who is known as the hitman. Even your cousin in third grade will not need a second chance to guess the player we are talking about. Rohit Sharma is one of the best batsmen in world cricket and he is also India’s captain across three formats now.
- Ishan Kishan (WK) - Ishan Kishan was one of the most expensive players in this year’s IPL and rightly so too. He is a good young player who can clear the ropes at will. He is an explosive and dynamic batsman and yes he is a left-hander and a wicket-keeper as well. He has been a core player for the Mumbai Indians for a very long time and he will hope he can continue to perform like he always has been.
- Suryakumar Yadav - It might have taken him a little more time to shine and get noticed by the selectors but Surya Kumar Yadav is undoubtedly one of the best no 4 or 5 batsmen across all formats in the world. He has all the shots in the book and he is a treat to watch when he is batting. He will be one of their trump cards yet again.
- Tilak Verma - Tilak Verma is a young lad who is looking to make his name in the International circuit and also the IPL. He might not have done justice to all the fuss around him in the rescind Under-19 cricket world cup but he is a talent to watch out for and many pundits believe that he can even be the find of the season.
- Kieron Pollard - If Kieron Pollard can still bat and finish games like he used to, Mumbai will be one of the contenders to lift the trophy yet again.
- Tim David - Tim David is a hard-hitting typical T20 batsman who has made his name by hitting some huge sixes in some huge tournaments all across the world. Let us see if he can replicate this form in the IPL as well.
- Sanjay Yadav - Another young Indian bowler who will be looking to make this a breakthrough season for him. He has a chance to get to the next level if he has a good IPL with the Mumbai Indians.
- Daniel Sams - A hard-hitting batsman and a very good bowler. Daniels Sams is an asset to have for any team. He can hit sixes at will and bowl pinpoint yorkers at will too. These are skills very few players possess and he can be a big player for Mumbai this season.
- Murugan Ashwin - A good mystery spinner who is very hard to read and someone who can take crucial wickets while making sure that he does not leak boundaries. M Aswin has yet another chance to shine at the highest level.
- Tymal Mills - Another very good bowler who has pace and all the tricks in the bag. If he can find some form and stay injury-free, he can be a real asset for them.
- Jasprit Bumrah - One of the best death bowlers in World Cricket for a long while. Bumrah is a joy to watch. He is someone who has all the variety, pace, precision a bowler needs. Needless to say, he will be Mumbai’s trump card with the ball.
