A team in the league of its own, the Perth Scorchers are the bullies of the Big Bash League or at least they used to be. With a power-packed bowling line-up that would dismantle opponents and then if there was any other scope left, the rest of the carnage would be completed by the batsman. They have some terrific T20 stars in their ranks and they play a certain competitive brand of cricket. However, since the past few years, they have not been at their terrific best and this is a new season with new hopes and you can certainly expect them to come good.
Let us look at the set-up of the Perth Scorchers.
Jump to:
1. Colin Munro -
One of the finest and most proven T20 opening batsmen who has been showing his class across all leagues and that too since a very long time. Colin Munro is a destructive opening batsman whose name needs no introduction. Even though he has fallen behind in the pecking order with his national side, he has been in good form lately and it’s just a matter of time before he gets a call-up for New Zealand again. He can find gaps and clear boundaries at will and he takes the attack to the opposition. We expect him to be one of the highest scorers in this season’s BBL.
2. Laurie Evans -
Another player who has been a regular starter in T20 competitions all across the world. He has class, he has experience and he certainly has all the shots in the book and that makes him one of the best players there is in his sort of role. He can hit the ball a long way and also find the gaps.

3. Cameron Bancroft -
He has been in some terrific form for a better part of a year in Australia’s domestic set-up and that too across all three formats. It’s just a matter of time before he gets back his test spot for the national side. And if he is looking to make a statement about his class and his form, the BBL would be just the perfect place to do so. Especially when the Ashes is going on parallely with the BBL.
4. Mitchell Marsh -
The man of the match in the T20 World Cup final - Mitchell Marsh is enjoying his life and is also in the form of his life at the moment. He is striking the ball right from the middle of the bat and certainly seems like he will go on to make a huge score every time he comes out to bat. And the funny thing is that he actually manages to do so every now and then. Expect him to carry on his good World Cup form and confidence into the BBL.
5. Ashton Turner -
Another one of the very fine finishers Australia has produced in the recent years, Ashton Turner is a great player to have in your middle order. Remember how a debutant in certain series single handedly one them an unwinnable game against India in India - yes that bloke was Ashton Turner. He is certainly someone who has a bright future and someone who can up the ante as and when it’s needed. However he had an average BBL last year as per his standards and this new BBL season he will seriously be looking to make a fresh start and play like the Ashton Turner we know.
6. Josh Inglis -
Certainly one of the other very talented Wicket-Keeper batsmen that Australia have in their ranks, Josh Inglis is right up there with the very best. After Brad Haddin’s retirement the wicket keeper’s spot has been more a case of musical chairs. However Alex Carey has been the white ball keeper and Tim Paine the red ball keeper since a while. But there is certainly scope and room for other players to rise up the ranks. Josh Inglis is believed to be one for the future.

7. Andrew Tye -
Cutters, slower balls and more cutters. This is Andrew Tye’s stock-in-trade. He is one of the most clever bowlers in World Cricket right now. He is a very important part of this Perth Scorchers lineup and has been one since a very long time
8. Jhye Richardson -
After having played for Australia in all three formats of the game, Jhye Richardson is a name that is quite famous and well known. He bowls at an express pace and is one of the go to bowlers whenever his captain needs a wicket.
9. Ashton Agar -
Spin bowling all-rounder, Ashton Agar is certainly an asset for any team he plays in. He is very economical with the ball and also picks up wickets and is someone who can chip in with some lust blows with the bats if the situation demands. He is a good fielder too. He is another huge pillar of the Scorcher’s success over the last few years.
10. Peter Hatzoglou -
Mystery Spinner and a master craftsman, he’s certainly young but already bowls with a lot of maturity and his calibre is right up there with the very best. Many pundits regard him as one for the future and he certainly is expected to make a few heads turn this BBL.
