There are now 40 Genshin Impact characters available, so your ideal squad won't be short of contenders. However, with so many various weapons, elementals, skills, ascension bonuses, and constellation upgrades to choose from, it may be difficult to narrow down your favorites.
In reality, finding a genuinely terrible Genshin Impact character is tough. While basic numbers and elemental powers are essential, a character's worth is partly determined by their own playstyle, weapons and artifacts available, and team composition. So don't worry if your favorite character is on the lower tiers; with our suggested Genshin Impact builds, you can still make it work.
In general, being in the top tiers indicates that a character is the best in their position, is not too complex to create, and plays well independent of teammates. Being in a lower-tier indicates that better options exist, or that the character requires a highly specialized build our team to flourish. Just to clarify, the characters are not rated inside their own tier. With that out of the way, let's have a look at our Genshin Impact tier list's character rankings!

How does the character tier list for Genshin Impact work?
These tier lists will be broken down into four tiers, as described below:
- S-Tier: The game's finest characters, as determined by the current metagame.
- A-Tier: Characters who are notable and excellent, and who are helpful in any circumstance.
- B-Tier: Good characters who can help our squad balance out if we don't have the greatest.
- C-Tier: These characters aren't terrible, but they should be replaced with better ones as soon as possible.
This should go without saying, but it's worth mentioning anyway: tier lists aren't an exact science, especially in a game where the majority of your party preferences are based on luck or even personal preferences. However, this will give you a better idea of how to build your team in the most effective way possible.
Let's get started without further ado.
Characters with Bows
Venti can generate a lot of CC because of his elemental burst, and his rapid energy recharge rate enables him to spam his abilities more quickly. Ganyu, on the other hand, has a variety of skill combinations that can deal with huge groups of opponents.
Tartaglia is one of the most powerful DPS dealers in the game, due to his extensive armament and the melee damage he can inflict with his Hydro daggers. Yoimiya's attacks based on pyrotechnics, as well as her Pyro AoE abilities, may provide a lot of DPS. Diona's shields and heals are plentiful, and her Cryo abilities may easily freeze several opponents at once.
Fischl's crow Oz can deal with a lot of Electro DMG, which is helpful for a lot of elemental reactions. Amber is helpful for puzzles and may be handy in an emergency when you need to use Pyro to blow things up, but if you already have Yoimiya, you can ignore Amber.
Characters that serve as catalysts
Klee may become as powerful as a supernova in combat because of her explosives and high base attack numbers, but her range might be a bit difficult. Mona is one of the finest all-around supports since she can immobilize several opponents at once, allowing for Cryo responses, and her taunting phantom may shield your other units.
Sucrose's Anemo abilities can hurl opponents into the air, and her Burst enables her to perform some impressive elemental reactions in a massive vortex. Yanfei's Scarlet Seals passive gives her a lot of powerful charged strikes, which increases her damage potential.
Barbara is a master healer who comes in handy in a pinch, despite having the lowest basic attack in the game. Ningguang's distinctive shield, which blocks projectiles and provides buffs, may help you shape the fight, and her strikes can inflict a lot of damage. Lisa's Electro abilities are excellent since she has a high base ATK, but they aren't quite as useful as those of other Electro characters.

Characters from Claymore
With the greatest basic attack power and deadly Pyro abilities, Diluc is one of the strongest DPS characters in the game. Eula is another excellent option, since her stacks, Cryo powers, and quick attacks allow her to inflict huge amounts of physical damage.
Razor is one of the strongest close combat characters due to his melee damage-increasing abilities; yet, his lack of usefulness with elemental responses may be difficult to cope with. Sayu's elemental talent does massive amounts of damage as she spins around the battlefield, and she may also heal party members. When partnered with a strong Hydro character, Chongyun's Cryo skills enable him to perform a variety of elemental reactions that may paralyze and defeat any foe.
Beidou is a character of explosive strength who can cope with any obstacle that comes her way; yet, her power is dependent on how much you increase it. Noelle's offensive numbers and skills may be lacking in comparison to others, but her defensive stats and abilities make her one of the game's most tanky characters. Xinyan, on the other hand, has the highest basic attack of any 4-star character, making her a viable choice if you don't have Diluc or a strong Pyro character on hand.
Characters with Polearms
Because of her elemental talent, Hu Tao's attacks may deal a lot of Pyro DMG, and when coupled with her burst, she can become an OP high-damage dealer.
With large damage outputs and high battle resistance, Zhongli's Geo abilities make him one of the most desired characters in the game. Xiao is a DPS character that can strike several opponents at once and, with his burst, transforms into a demon capable of destroying everything in his path.
Rosaria's armament makes her a highly valuable character for her Cryo AoE responses, while Xiangling's area skills and fast strikes make her a viable option for a Pyro character.

Characters with Swords
Bennett is one of the greatest utility characters in the game, despite his lackluster attack numbers. His damage bonuses and healings, as well as his excellent Elemental control, making him one of the top utility characters. Xingqiu's Elemental abilities may offer DMG reduction as well as some amazing elemental reactions, making him an excellent sub-DPS unit.
With Anemo skills that may hit your opponents about to generate amazing elemental reactions, Kaedehara Kazuha has a lot of potential as a DPS and a supporting character. Kamisato Ayaka can also do a lot of damage, and her Cryo affinity may be utilized for a variety of responses to wipe out all of the opponents in the area.
Albedo has abilities that make him more capable of dealing with large groups of adversaries. With CC abilities and HP regen, Jean's flexibility as support and sub-DPS is great for your squad.
Kaeya is one of those characters that, following the start of the main narrative, falls against another sword-user, although his Cryo skills may be very helpful at times, and Keqing has some of the finest stat combinations that, combined with her Electro strength, make her a superb melee fighter.
Finally, the Traveler's strikes in his Electro version may inflict a lot of damage and have some helpful elemental responses. His Anemo version, on the other hand, may be helpful for short battles or when Pyro and Electro effects are available, and we don't suggest his Geo variant since there are many other Geo characters that are more beneficial.
As you can see, the Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara, Sangonomiya Kokomi, and Aloy have yet to be included in the tier lists; nevertheless, you will have to wait a few days for us to assess their strength and potential in order to properly rank them.
