Brisbane Heat used to be one of the most formidable teams in the whole of BBL. They have always been a team that has played with full aggression and have taken the game to their opponents. Especially during the Brendon McCullum years, when he and Chris Lynn set out to bat, no matter who the bowlers in the opposition line-up were, they knew they were in for a ride at the Gabba. However, since Brendon’s retirement, this has not been the story for the Heat who have found it a little more difficult to play like the team they used to. Another problem for the heat is the lack of consistency - something which has bothered them for a long time. Let us look at the team composition of the Brisbane Heat.
Jump to:
1. Chris Lynn -
Chris Lynn is one of the cleanest strikers in White-ball Cricket. When he connects, he can clear any boundary in the world with tremendous ease. He is someone who has made a name for himself all across the world, playing destructive innings and destroying bowling attacks wherever he goes. However he has been plagued by injuries and has been rather inconsistent since a while and he has been dropped from Australia’s T20 squad too. However now he has come into a new season with renewed energy and hopes and we expect him to come quite good in this year’s BBL.
2. Max Bryant -
With the aggression and the style with which he plays, Max Bryant is the perfect replacement of Brendon, the Heat could have wished for. He is young but the way he carries himself and takes on the bowlers, he is someone who can fill up those huge shoes of Bazz. However it remains to be said that batting aggressively and scoring runs consistent while trying to do so are quite different. What made Brendon unique is his ability to deliver consistently and if Max wants to make a name for himself he also needs to be more consistent. However, with age on his side, he has all the talent and the shots to do so and we expect him to come quite good.
3. Ben Duckett -
Ben Duckett has been a crucial part of Australia’s BBL for a long time now. He is a good batsman who has all the shots in the book and he can do the task of anchoring the innings or playing the aggressor’s role too. However since a few years, he has seen a dip in form and needs to do justice to all the talent he has. Now that he is a member of the Heat’s set-up where he will be required to come good considering he is one of their senior players, he will definitely show that form is temporary and class is permanent.

4. Sam Heazlett -
Young, aggressive and destructive. That’s Sam Heazlett for you. He is young but very aggressive. Sometimes a little too much for his own liking but he is someone who has a bright future ahead of him. Together, he and Max Bryantt have all the capabilities to take the franchise forward. The way we see it, Chris Lynn, Max Bryant and Sam Heazalett have too much firepower for their team. Now they can either use it efficiently and destroy opponents. However if they are overly aggressive and lose wickets quickly up-front, it can also lead to their self- destruction.
5. Jack Wildermuth -
Good pacy bowler who has a certain degree of control in his bowling. He has been a big player in the BBL set-up since a while now. He is also someone who is handy with the bat and considering the consistent inconsistency of Heat;s batting line-up, he has a crucial role to play both with the bat and the ball. He is someone they use quite efficiently during the power-surge, both while batting and bowling.
6. Jimmy Peirson -
Captain, Wicket-Keeper & destructive batsman, Jimmy Peirson is at the heart of the Brisbane Heat’s line-up. After Chris Lynn decided to give up captaincy, Jimmy Peirson who has been a part of the Heat set-up for quite some time now. He now has a lot of experience under his belt and will look to take the franchise forward.
7. Xavier Bartlett -
Fast bowler and pinch hitter, Bartlett is a crucial part of the Heat line-up and he is at the heart of their bowling prowess. He is fast and pacey and someone who can bowl pinpoint yorkers to say the least.

8. Mujeeb Ur Rahman -
One of Afghanistan’s finest and one of the finest mystery spinners there are around, he is the biggest weapon of this Heat attack. He is someone they use quite judiciously, sometimes at the powerplay while defending low scores and sometimes at the death to curb the flow of runs and sometimes during the middle overs when a partnership is developing.
9. Matthew Kuhnemann -
Matthew Kuhnemann is also another chinaman that the Heat’s side poses. He has a certain element of mystery to his bowling and this does them a world of good. He is someone who is quite economical and is also amongst the wickets.
